Additionally, a biomimetic approach to this problem that has received significant attention is the selective recognition of target molecules by sensory receptors, or sensing, in which a specific interaction between two chemicals results in changes to a measurable macroscopic property.An advantage to this technique is that sensing phenomena can be easily used to selectively quantify chemical species without the need for sophisticated,expensive, and time-consuming instruments.Organic and organometallic receptors are commonly used as sensory molecules for the detection of various chemicals. These molecules work as chemosensors in solution, but because they are typically insoluble in water, they often must be used in organic solvents. This inconvenience can be overcome by using hydrophilic copolymers that also contain small amounts of the lipophilic organic receptors. When designed correctly, the inclusion of the receptor moieties does not alter the hydrophilicity of the overall materials, thus permitting the preparation of water-soluble sensory copolymers . 靠譜者得金幣~~~ |
