PhD Scholarships in bio nanoparticles and materials We have up to 4 domestic and international PhD scholarships available for outstanding students to start at Macquarie University in beautiful Sydney, The Scholarships are $25,849 to $29,849 (AU) based on your background and are for up to three years tax free. You will have an interest in diverse fields such as materials chemistry, self-assembly, material characterisation methods, nanomedicine and immunology. There is flexibility to your PhD, but to start with and so that we can help you rapidly publish papers, we suggest you work closely with our team on porous nanoparticles and their interaction with proteins in living systems. Adsorption can occur rapidly when these particle come into contact with solutions of proteins and a coating or corona becomes formed, which significantly changing the particle properties and their interaction with cells. Some of the types of particles we hope to investigate include carbon, copper, gold, magnetic, photonic upconversion, quantum dots, silica, silver, titanium-oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles. We plan to characterize the composition of these particles before and after coating by ESX, their size and shape by TEM, SEM and AFM, crystal structure by XRD and their surface chemistry with Zeta and BET. A Master's by research degree which includes several publications is required. You should have an average IELTS of 6.5.
