|
Associate/Assistant Professorship in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering (Department of Engineering Machinery) The Department of Engineering Machinery in the School of Mechanical Engineering, at Southwest Jiaotong University announces the following vacant Associate Professorship/Assistant Professorship in Engineering Machinery. The Department has 5 professors, 2 visiting professors,5 associate professors, 6 in other academic positions and approximately 18 research fellows now. The department is a leading source of knowledge for development of material handling equipment with high added value, employing a multi-disciplinary approach that combines engineering design, management and manufacturing. The Department focuses on the following research area: Engineering Design for material handling equipment and engineering machinery, and Industrial Engineering. The research activates are presently separated by three research groups. The Associate/Assistant Professorship will be affiliated with research and teaching within the areas assigned by the three groups related to engineering machinery and industrial engineering. The Associate/assistant Professorship will have responsibility for teaching and research in the following fields: (1) Mechanical design with a primary focus on Machine structural Analysis, Machine Design and Engineering Application, and other courses on material handling equipment and engineering construction equipment, including fatigue, reliability and light-weight design; (2) Industrial Engineering with Production Planning & Control, Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Logistics System, Operation Management, et.al. Further, it is expected that the holder of the position is responsible for further developing the courses of the involved two majors: Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, in particular, contributing to the integration of research experience and teaching. Other duties involve supervision of doctoral/master students and to participate in the strategic development of the Department. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Eligibility for appointment as an associate/assistant professor is reserved for persons who have: obtained their doctorate degree or have the equivalent academic expertise in an aspect of Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, shown teaching expertise, shown the capacity to find, obtain funds for and conduct research projects, and shown the capacity to lead education or research activities. Grounds of assessment It is of special importance that the candidate has shown the capacity to independently initiate and conduct research projects of high scientific quality as documented by international publications. demonstrated the capacity to obtain funds for and conduct research in collaborative projects with industry (EU-projects or similar). It is of significant importance that the candidate has Demonstrated his/her ability to supervise graduate and doctoral students. the ability to plan, organize and conduct courses at both undergraduate and graduate level. the ability to teach in English and Chinese.
