|
Two shell-and-tube LHTES units divided into pipe model and cylinder model that hold the same volume/mass of PCM and heat transfer area are considered. Combined effects of heat conduction and natural convection led to an improved heat storage performance for the horizontal cylinder model more so than that for the horizontal pipe model. Further study was conducted for the effect of horizontal and vertical unit orientation with different HTF inlets. Natural convection plays an important role in the melting process for pipe model and cylinder model with different HTF inlets. |
