英國伯明翰大學(xué)招收化工或過程相關(guān)方向優(yōu)秀博士研究生 申請方式:請將相關(guān)材料發(fā)至y.li.1@bham.ac.uk, 郵件注明“博士生申請-姓名”。有初步意向者可直接聯(lián)系該郵箱詢問詳情。 The use of cryogenic liquids is capable of storing energy as well as capturing post-combustion CO2 at low pressures and then storing CO2 in the form of dry ice. In particular cryogenic CO2 capture is projected to be a much more energy efficient and cost effective alternative to solvent-based CO2 separation processes. The cryogenic energy required for the process can be from intermittent renewable energy or off-peak electricity. Therefore the integration of Cryogenic CO2 capture and cryogenic energy storage would offer great potential to maximize the renewable energy utilization. In this project the PhD student would investigate both experimentally and numerically the effects of thermal properties of the refrigerants (cryogenic energy carrier) on CO2 capture process. This will be processed within the brand new well-founded cryogenic lab (Birmingham Centre for Cryogenic Energy Storage) which has dedicated research facilities to carry out the research. The PhD student will also be encouraged to engage with a research team working on an EPSRC funded SuperGen project (EP/N000714/1). Applicants must have a Masters in Cryogenic Engineering/Process Engineering or in a related discipline at the upper second class level, the normal requirement being at least 65% overall degree mark, and demonstrate proof of proficiency in English if applicable. Applications will be given full consideration if received by August 31, 2015. Funding Notes: Due to funding restrictions this PhD studentship is fully funded for home (UK/EU) applicants covering tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and providing an annual stipend at the standard rate for three years. Applications from overseas candidates may be considered at the discretion of the School of Chemical Engineering if appropriate tuition fees or stipend can be arranged from an alternate source. |
