The measured values within the normed signal range are specific to a product and characteristic for various products, i.e. interfacial layer measures of two non-mixable liquids. This product specific value corresponds to a number within the range of 0 to 3750. The physical impedance measured value of a product is displayed as numeric value which is referenced to as impulse number. If an interfacial layer bar probe with an active measuring electrode of 300 mm is emerged into an organic liquid to a 100% (upper phase) the result is a measured value of e.g. 250 impulses. An aqueous solution (lower phase) results in a higher measured value of e.g. 2750 impulses. Consequently the measuring range for this continuous interfacial layer measure ranges between 250 and 2750 impulses for a interfacial level height change of 0 to 300 mm. The universal measuring device QTI 820 K is parameterized that the interfacial layer level of 0 to 300 mm (0 to 100%) is digitally displayed and the analogue output between 4 and 20 mA changes in proportion to the height. The parameter setting for an interfacial layer measure is taking place through various parameters. Through a reference measuring electrode which is built in either above (compensation of the upper phase) or below (compensation of the lower phase) of the interfacial layer measuring probe the relevant liquid phase is measured. The microprocessor unit QTI 820 K the zero point as well as the measuring range is calculated continuously. Changes of products to the relevant liquid phases (organic or aqueous) do not have any influence to the measuring accuracy. The interfacial layer measuring unit QTI 820 K can be adapted to different arrangements of the probe as well as changes of the upper or lower phase. The entire interfacial layer measuring system has a technical fault detection system with visual display. At technical fault you have a fault indicator contact at disposal and the analogue output is switched to 0 mA. In the event of a fault detection all relays are de-energized. The frontal key pad with 4 push-buttons for the functions and a digital display assure a user friendly key-in of parameters and data display. The parameterization of the universal measuring device QTI 820 K with an automated product compensation can only take place after a user-code has been entered. The membrane keypad with four function keys and digital display guarantees a user friendly key-in of parameters and data display. The indication, out of range has been waived as the detection of an undercut of the measuring range (reference probe (A) placed in the upper phase) or an exceeding of the measuring range (reference probe (B) placed in the lower phase) is not measured. However, if an exceeding of the measuring range is noticeable (interfacial layer above the measuring range, cases 1A and 2A) the maximum measuring value is displayed and the outgoing current is switched to 20mA (out of range, no fault indication). In all other cases = is displayed and the outgoing current switches to 0 resp. 4mA (out of range, no fault indication). Based on the reference signal (MWr) the span of the incoming signal (MSp) is calculated following the formula hereafter: |
