Organization: SynCat@Beijing, Synfuels China Technology Co., Ltd; www.syncatbeijing.com 2. Purpose of the program: Understanding how catalysts work on the molecular level requires a sound insight into how chemical bonds are broken and formed on the surface, and how this relates to structure and reactivity of the catalysts. In this course Professors Bowker and Niemantsverdriet use one day to review the fundamentals, while various experts discuss case studies. The program leaves ample time for questions and discussion. 3. Speakers Prof. Michael Bowker – Cardiff University Prof. Hans Niemantsverdriet – SynCat@Beijing Prof. Li Yongwang – Synfuels China Prof. Ma Ding – Peking University Dr. Kees-Jan Weststrate – Syngaschem BV, Eindhoven¬ Prof. Wang Ye – Xiamen University Prof. Wen Xiaodong – SynCat@Beijing and Institute of Coal Chemistry Dr. Zhang Tianfu – SynCat@Beijing 4. Eligible Participants: The presentations aim at an advanced level in catalysis and surface science, and hence the meeting is open to PhD students, postdocs and academic staff, and to research scientists at Synfuels China. Attendance will be limited to 60, with a minimum of 25 places reserved for external participants. 5. Registration Participation is free of charge, but registration is required, and participants (except for the speakers) are expected to pay for their own accommodation and transport to and from Huairou, Beijing. If desired, accomodation can be arranged by the organizing committee at the CFGC Grand Hotel, 280RMB per room per night; transportation between the hotel and the conference venue will be provided. Lunch (19th and 20th Oct) and dinner (19th Oct only) will be offered by SynCat@Beijing. Interested participants should fill in the form attached and email it to Ms. Liang (liangyuan@synfuelschina.com.cn) before 12th October, with title “Syncat Autumn School Registration”. 6. Venue The event will be held at the new laboratory SynCat@Beijing of Synfuels China Technology Co. Ltd, Einstein Lecture Room. The address of SynCat@Beijing is Huairou District, Yanqi Economic Development Area Le Yuan South 2nd Street No. 1 (懷柔區(qū)雁棲經(jīng)濟(jì)開發(fā)區(qū)樂(lè)園南二街1號(hào)中科合成油技術(shù)有限公司二期). A shuttle bus will transport participants between the CFGC Grand Hotel and the conference venue.
