You are invited to submit your original and unpublished work to the upcoming IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT2016), Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei, Taiwan, March 14-17 2016: Special Session on “Industrial perspectives of future buildings and homes under the context of Internet-of-Things and Industry 4.0”. https://www.icit2016.org/uploads/SS41_.pdf About the conference: 2016 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT2016) will be held on March 14-17, 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. IEEE ICIT is one of the flagship yearly conferences of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, devoted to the dissemination of new ideas, research and works in progress within the fields of intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, 3D printing, factory communications and automation, flexible manufacturing, data acquisition and signal processing, vision systems, and power electronics. The world's industry, research, and academia are cordially invited to participate in an array of presentations, tutorials, and social activities for the advancement of science, technology, engineering education, and fellowship. Organizers: Principal Organizer: Dr. Zhibo Pang (pang.zhibo@se.abb.com), ABB Corporate Research, Västerås, Sweden Organizers: Prof. Jamal Deen (jamal@mcmaster.ca), McMaster University, Canada Prof. Kim-Fung Tsang (ee330015@cityu.edu.hk), City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Call for Papers: The Industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) and subsequent Industry4.0 offers promising prospects in building segments. Future communication infrastructure of commercial buildings and residential buildings (homes) will be redefined and largely expanded from conventional Automated Buildings and Homes (B&H) to Autonomous B&H, Robotized B&H, Healthy B&H, and even Manufacturing B&H prompted by unprecedented integration of devices, data, and services. In addition to low maturity of enabling technologies, the industry is facing intensive challenge of interoperability. This special session aims to offer a timely opportunity for the academia and industry exchange the latest achievements on fundamental technologies, standardization efforts, case studies, and trials.
