From its founding in 1842 to its position today as a leading Catholic university, Villanova University has forged a path of academic excellence. Graduate programs in the Villanova University College of Engineering provide a modern, relevant, well-rounded education that prepares graduates to understand their role in a technical society, make constructive lifelong contributions, communicate effectively, and provide ethical leadership as active members of their professions and communities. The MS in Mechanical Engineering program is design-oriented and industry-related for the practicing mechanical engineer. Courses provide a foundation in basic theory of modern engineering methods and problem-solving skills. The Ph.D. in Engineering program emphasizes excellence, innovation and integrity in research, scholarship and education. Courses and research projects reflect the specialties of the Department’s highly distinguished and dedicated faculty, many of whom are nationally recognized leaders in their disciplines of thermal sciences, mechanics & materials, dynamics & controls, bioengineering and nanotechnology. Funded Positions for Doctoral Studies: Funded positions are available for doctoral studies in mechanical engineering at Villanova.
