Materials from different manufacturers have been supplied to you. You are told that these are polymer coatings with embedded nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been requested to assess if these nanometre sized particles differ depending on the manufacturer and if the distribution or size of particles varies through the thickness of the material. (a) Briefly outline what investigations you could undertake before using the TEM to explore any assumptions made? Outline any information you might expect to acquire with your chosen technique (s). (b) Outline the capabilities and main benefits of the TEM to this materials investigation. Indicate what types of information can be obtained. Your system has a scanning attachment. Identify suitable techniques and the detectors required that might be helpful (and what advantage they would have to this investigation) in a scanning transmission electron microscope). (c) What specimen thickness would be suitable for the TEM? Outline a possible preparation route for your materials and explain clearly what areas of your specimens you would examine. 首先說個前提,一般使用投射電鏡的目的是為了觀察尺度在0.2μm到0.2nm之間的亞顯微結(jié)構(gòu). 這題目里說的是納米顆粒,那么 1.在進行電鏡觀察的之前或者說同時,通常用XRD或定量分析材料的相組成情況(成分種類比例),用化學(xué)成分分析其元素組成情況. 2.透射電鏡的主要優(yōu)點在于分辨率高,對樣品損傷小,通常用于對薄厚度樣品的觀察. 透射電鏡的工作原理是:由電子槍發(fā)射出的電子束在真空通道中穿越聚光鏡,聚成一束尖細(xì)、明亮而均勻的光斑,照射樣品上.透過樣品后的電子束攜帶有樣品內(nèi)部的結(jié)構(gòu)信息,樣品內(nèi)致密處透過的電子量少,稀疏處多;經(jīng)過物鏡的會聚調(diào)焦和初級放大后,電子束進入下級的中間透鏡和第1、第2投影鏡進行綜合放大成像,最終被放大了的電子影像投射在觀察室內(nèi)的熒光屏板上,最終轉(zhuǎn)化為可見光影像. 題目里說的detector我沒明白是什么意思 . 3.超薄樣品,一般都是幾百微米.制樣的大致流程是切片→砂紙打磨→上膠除膠→離子減薄. 觀察的區(qū)域的話… 我只用過SEM,TEM不太清楚 .SEM我一般是在開了電鏡以后才知道 . 發(fā)自小木蟲IOS客戶端 |

Explain the manufacture of an EB-PVD TBC system a) First, select your chosen bondcoat system and describe in brief its manufacture.
