that 引導(dǎo)的是一個賓語從句，既然是從句，那么其句子成分肯定也是完整的嘛！
在這個從句中   主語 （ one of the possible mechanisms ）+謂語（might be  ）+其他（attributable to plasma Aβ）  那么這個句子就完整了撒！
by which AD aggravates the diabetic phenotype  這是個定語從句 修飾mechanisms。 正常書寫就是  AD aggravates the diabetic phenotype by mechanisms !

你應(yīng)該這樣來理解       打個比方
我自己造的句子 可能有些不合適。
the plane by which you can arrive here early might be attributable to its high speed!
你可以坐飛機提早到達(dá)那里，這歸功于它的高速。
同樣原句里 邏輯是           mechanisms  可以影響  AD aggravates the diabetic phenotype ,    可能是歸功于 plasma Aβ的作用！ 這難道還不好理解
