7. Review on the design and construction of a large wastewater treatment plant Abstract: The largest municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWIP) in the Netherlands is the WWTP Houtrust in The Hague. This plant with a capacity of 1 100 000 population equivalents will occupy an area of merely five ha. Due to the limited area the plant is built in three successive phases as an extension of the existing primary sedimentation plant. This paper focuses on the design and construction of the secondary wastewater treatment and sludge handling. The UNOX system, developed by Union Carbide and later by Linde, one of the advanced treatment systems with adequate full scale experience, was chosen. This system uses pure oxygen to aerate and therefore operates on activated sludge with extremely good settling properties. Construction of the extensions of the existing sedimentation plant with the UNOX system started in 1986 and was expected to be completed at the end of 1988. 8. Foundation construction within wastewater-treatment plant Abstract: The entire foundation design and construction histories of a project built inside an existing wastewater-treatment plant are described. The foundation type decision process, based on the subsurface conditions, the existing structure's performance, and the proposed facility's constraints are outlined. In addition, the foundation construction histories, including foundation specifications, construction dewatering and monitoring, pile-load-test results and production pile driving records, are summarized. Weak soils existed to significant depths over the entire site as did a high ground-water table. Since the elevations of the bases of the structures varied significantly, it was also cost effective to vary foundation type depending upon the estimated load-carrying capacity of the soil at the base of the proposed foundations. Consideration also had to be given to the possibility of detrimental total and differential settlements as a result of dewatering as well as differences in foundation type between existing and proposed structures. This project demonstrated that a properly designed and adequately executed foundation construction program can effectively eliminate the need for expensive underpinning of nearby existing facilities. And, pile load test is a reliable tool to establish the driving criteria, to confirm the design assumptions, and to economize the required pile length. (3 refs.) 9. Yannawa wastewater treatment plant (Bangkok, Thailand): Design, construction and operation Abstract: Yannawa. Wastewater Treatment plant (Phase 1) serves a population equivalent of 500,000 and is located on a restricted site within the city of Bangkok, Thailand. Secondary treatment is based on the CASS? sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process and the plant is one of the largest multi-storey SBRs in the world. The limitation of available site area, the ground conditions and the characteristics of the wastewater to be treated set a series of challenges for the designers, contractors and commissioning and operational staff. This paper briefly describes the collection system, the process selection and the treatment streams of the wastewater treatment plant. The SBR secondary treatment plant is described in more detail. The problems that arose during commissioning and operation and the solutions made possible by the use of an SBR type of process are discussed. Details of plant performance during performance testing and during the first three years of plant operation are provided. ? Earth Tech Engineering Ltd 2004. 7.《污水處理廠的設計結(jié)構(gòu)研究進展》 摘要:荷蘭最大的城市污水處理廠是位于海牙的WWTP Houtrust.該廠具有處理相當于100000人口排放廢水的能力,占地僅5公頃。受地域限制,該廠僅建有三級連續(xù)的處理設施,用作現(xiàn)存的污水初期沉降處理廠的后續(xù)處理設施。本文主要敘述2級污水及淤泥處理設施的設計與構(gòu)造。使用Union Carbide及后來的Linde公司開發(fā)的一種經(jīng)過了充分實踐的先進處理系統(tǒng)——UNOX系統(tǒng)。該系統(tǒng)通過加入純氧,使活性污泥具有相當不錯的沉淀性質(zhì)。1986年開始建造使用該UNOX系統(tǒng)的污水沉降處理廠后續(xù)處理設施,并預計到1988年底完成。 |
