求教：ncbi回復(fù)中identifier應(yīng)該怎么理解？

前幾天向genbank遞交一段序列，隨后收到了一封mail，大意理解了，但是一段話沒(méi)能很好的理解，希望有經(jīng)歷的人給我指點(diǎn)一下： [2] Provide a clone/isolate/strain or other unique identifier for your record. For a more detailed explanation, see below. 他的解釋如下： strain vs. clone: If the sequence was obtained from a cultured isolate, then a strain identifier is required. (A strain identifier is not the same as a species epithet. The proper species name of your bacterial isolate is not required.) Strain identifiers distinguish specific cultures so a historical continuity can be traced from the parent culture to any subsequent subculture(s). This is important when strains differ at an infraspecies level, or, in some cases, when they have been misidentified and are consequently reclassified in another species. The strain designation you provide will serve to distinguish yours from other extant and future isolates that might be obtained elsewhere. Your isolates do not need to be deposited in a culture collection in order to have strain designations. A strain may be designated in any manner: by the name of an individual or locality, or by a string of numbers and/or letters.
