如何判斷兩個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)之間的能量勢(shì)壘與結(jié)構(gòu)穩(wěn)定性之間的關(guān)系

Although the relative value of the energies is small, there is still a difference of about 50meV between the various configurations, which is substantially higher than the thermal energy at room temperature. It is thus likely that the system will be found in the configuration with lowest energy at room temperature. The authors should discuss in a few sentences if there is an energy barrier between configurations and how large that barrier is. thermal energy是指kbT, T=300 K,也就是26 meV。當(dāng)能量差在這個(gè)量級(jí)時(shí),能量高的configuration仍然有不可省略的Boltzmann distribution。當(dāng)能量差>>這個(gè)數(shù)值時(shí),能量高的configuration就可以被忽略掉了,因?yàn)閑xp(-E/kbT)<<1。這個(gè)是你的第一個(gè)問(wèn)題 兩個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)之間的轉(zhuǎn)變研究不是一個(gè)trivial的問(wèn)題,甚至可以單獨(dú)寫片paper,比如Henkelman前不久就發(fā)了篇金剛石石墨結(jié)果轉(zhuǎn)變的paper。所以你可以argue一下,說(shuō)通過(guò)這些結(jié)構(gòu)的相似性,這些相變可能有或者沒有kinetic barrier,blablabla |
