The hydroxyl radicals were generated on the surface of the thin films upon photoirradiation, and the effect of its generation rate on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 was examined using the terephthalic acid as the fluorescence probe. The result indicates that the thin film of hierarchical micro-mesoporous structured TiO2, as well as that of the TiO2 microtube deposited with gold and silver, were all successfully fabricated via. the microorganism templated method. The hierarchical micro-mesoporous structure can have the incident light multi-scattered, which can improve the efficiency of sunlight utilization. And the hydroxyl radical measurement result demonstrates that the capability of hydroxyl radical formation at the interface between TiO2 and water is in positive correlation with the photocatalytic activity. |
