A sol–gel process for the preparation of thick YAG:Ce3+ films has been developed. YAG:Ce3+ phosphor films with a typical yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) photoluminescence (PL) profile were prepared successfully. Single phase YAG films with a maximum thickness of 2 lm were prepared in the present work. The refractive index of the YAG films prepared (1.85 @ 633 nm and 1.80 @ 1540 nm) was very close to that of YAG single crystal. It was confirmed that the PL efficiency of the prepared films was strongly related to the degree of YAG phase formation in the samples and the rate of YAG phase evolution strongly depended on the film thickness. To achieve high YAG:Ce3+ PL efficiency, a minimum 1.2 lm of thickness is necessary. It was also found that the optical quality of the YAG films decreased following the deposition and thermal annealing processes, probably as a result of the growth of YAG crystals inside. As an example of a compromise between high PL efficiency and good optical quality, prism coupling was achieved on a 30-layer planar waveguide sample annealed at 1000 C for 30 min. It was proved that this sample could support multiple waveguide modes at visible wavelengths and its propagation loss at 1540 nm was estimated at 4.2 dB/cm. The temperature quenching effect in the films of the present work was also measured, being the same as that of commercial YAG:Ce3+ phosphors with relatively high Ce concentration. The present technology is intended for YAG:Ce3+ phosphor films that may be applied on white LED and it may also be of benefit to any areas where YAG films may be of interest. |
| 一種制備厚YAG:Ce3+膜的溶膠-凝膠工藝被開發(fā)出來(lái)。 典型的釔鋁柘榴石熒光外形的YAG:Ce3+磷光膜被成功制備。目前介紹的工作制備了最大厚度2lm的單相釔鋁柘榴石。所制備的釔鋁柘榴石膜的折光率(1.85 @ 633 nm and 1.80 @ 1540 nm)非常接近于釔鋁柘榴石單晶體。我們制備的膜的發(fā)光效率被證實(shí)與樣品中釔鋁柘榴石的相形成和取決于膜厚度的釔鋁柘榴石的相演化率相密切相關(guān)。為了達(dá)到高YAG:Ce3+發(fā)光效率,最小厚度1.2lm是必要的。同時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn)了釔鋁柘榴石膜的光學(xué)質(zhì)量隨著沉積和熱處理過程而降低,可能是因?yàn)閮?nèi)部釔鋁柘榴石晶體的生長(zhǎng)。作為一種在高發(fā)光效率和良好光學(xué)質(zhì)量之間的折衷,在1000°C下煅燒了30分鐘的30層平面波導(dǎo)樣品中完成了鏡耦合。證明了這個(gè)樣品能夠支持在可見光波長(zhǎng)下的多波導(dǎo)模型而且它在1540nm下的增殖損失被估計(jì)為4.2 dB/cm。在這項(xiàng)工作中,膜的溫度淬火效應(yīng)也被測(cè)試,與相對(duì)高Ce濃度的商業(yè)YAG:Ce3+膜相同。目前的技術(shù)旨在可能用于白LED上YAG:Ce3+磷光膜,而且可能也有益于可能對(duì)釔鋁柘榴石膜感興趣的任何領(lǐng)域。 |
